Where to eat in Laugharne

Laugharne · Carmarthenshire

Where to eat in Laugharne? Short, honest answer, from the people who pour the wine and bake the bread on Duncan Street.

Laugharne's a small town. A castle, an estuary, one main street and about a thousand of us. So the list of places to eat is short, and we're on it. This is what we do, plainly.

The Globe — the wine bar and kitchen

The Globe is a wine bar and a seasonal kitchen. What's on changes with the week, the bar's wine-led, and there's a short cocktail list and a Cocktail Hour in the afternoon. There's a garden out the back for a warm afternoon, and dogs are welcome throughout. Lunch runs 12 to 3, the Cocktail Hour 3 til 5, dinner 5 til 9, Tuesday to Saturday. It's a small room and weekends fill up, so booking ahead is the surest way to get the table you want.

The bakery, next door

Mornings are the bakery, next door. Bread, croissants, pastries and a coffee, out from about half eight. Grab a loaf before a walk on the estuary, and come early, because the best of it goes fast.

Around the rest of the day

Most people eat here around something else — the Castle, the Boathouse, a walk out along the Taf. We're a couple of minutes from all of it, so it's an easy lunch or dinner to build a day around. If you're planning the whole trip, here's a local's day out in Laugharne.

Find your way round Tales of Laugharne maps the town in self-guided walks and stops — every fact checked and sourced. The Globe is a stop on the trail, and every walk ends at our door.

The honest bit

And the honest bit, because you'll drive out here on the strength of it: Laugharne isn't a high street of restaurants. People come over from Carmarthen, St Clears, Whitland and Tenby because it's worth the trip, for the setting and the garden and the estuary as much as the plate. If you're coming a way, book, and make an afternoon of it.

More on where we fit into a visit: dog-friendly Laugharne, where to eat near the Castle & Boathouse, the wine bar and Cocktail Hour, and fresh bread at the bakery.
